Why bother?
Fallout, glowing in the dark
u/Rixtzz removed the whole crosshair, plus a corner of the rear polariser, to fit a transparent decal for a glow-in-the-dark Fallout mod. Rixtzz calls it tedious. The photo says worth it.
How to erase the crosshair from an AE-1200 dial, the orange filter you asked for, and six mods worth a second look.

Two threads on r/casioroyale asked the same question: can the printed lines in the AE-1200’s analog window go? u/JeremyCuntOfficial wanted the 12, 3, 6 and 9 markings gone, because the hands get hard to read when they line up with them.

It is doable, says u/Chemical-Cricket-109, who pulled it off, but it is “quite the giant pain in the ass.” The method comes from u/Rixtzz:
Go gently, says u/EatTheWaffle: isopropyl can take features you wanted to keep with it. And one reader pointed out the trade-off: with a busy picture behind the hands, the minute hand gets harder to spot.

When we showed the new MODDS.WATCH on r/casiomods, u/b00zled sent the kind of feedback every builder wants: specific and easy to act on. The filter colors weren’t saturated enough, so matching a real orange LCD was “literally impossible.” And the Plastic material came out much lighter than the color selected.

Both issues are fixed. The filter has a transparency slider, which is what lets a color get properly saturated, and the Plastic color now matches what you pick. While we were in there, the color picker got a rebuild too.
Also on the roadmap, straight from that thread: a transparent faceplate, and a tool that turns your artwork into print-ready sizes.

Crowd favorite
u/Ashamed_Panic6592 filed down an F-91W case with several grits of sandpaper, then polished it on a wheel until it became a single glossy surface. “I’m not saying it looks better than before,” the post says, “but I wanted to try something new.” It collected 700+ upvotes.
u/ThinkBachs summed up the thread: Casio modders are “the most creative and worthy people to associate myself with.”

Anime corner
u/JoaDeJoaquin gave an AE-1200 a One Piece makeover: a Straw Hat skull in the analog window, red, yellow and blue color on the display, and luminescent paint so the skull glows in the dark.

Royale corner
u/Ptr3nt13 finally got a W221H and confirmed it fits the Royale cases. Then came the faceplate: UV-printed and made for the stainless cases. Readers asked for a plainer version, and the answer was “for sure.”

Studio build
For fans of the Casioak who find it a bit big, the small Detroit studio modlab company designed new parts for the GMA-S2100: turquoise dial, steel exterior, black rubber strap. Posted by the studio itself, and one commenter says it may have changed their mind about the whole Casioak idea.

First mod
u/david-r20’s first Casio mod: an AE-1200 on a bright orange NATO strap, with a NASA logo up top and a small blue Earth in the analog dial. Go say something kind.

Parts bin
u/My_laptop_sucks built this Royale entirely from AliExpress parts. Thread trick: u/Oddbourne-22 wiped the printed “10 YEAR BATTERY” text off their own watch with a plain eraser, and it “left no trace.”
